The new board members will begin their terms at the end of the AMSA 2014 67th Reciprocal Meat Conference in Madison, Wisconsin.

Conference is scheduled for June 15-18 in Madison, Wis.

The award recognizes outstanding contributions or service to the Intercollegiate Meat Judging Program.

The award, established in 1977, is sponsored by Smithfield Foods.

The American Meat Science Association (AMSA) has announced that Dr. Steven Shackelford, Research Food Technologist at the U.S. Meat Animal Research Center (USMARC), is the recipient of the 2014 Distinguished Research Award.

The award was established to recognize excellence in the teaching of undergraduate and graduate meat science courses and the impact on the lives of those students in a highly positive manner.
