Inspectors reported employees of King Meat Services switching inspection marks.

The products were shipped to 26 Schnuck retail locations in Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.

113 pounds of product affected by recall.

The product was not presented at the U.S. point of entry for inspection.

Water samples collected at the establishment on Feb. 24 and Sept. 9, 2016 were positive for Coliform bacteria.

Meat was produced without benefit of inspection.

The Italian sausage, beef and lamb items were produced on various dates between April 20 and July 27, 2016.

State meat inspection program has never been funded, was never implemented.

The problem was discovered when FSIS personnel visited the uninspected facility following their application for a federal grant of inspection that had not yet been approved.
