The problem was discovered when FSIS received a referral from the Maryland Department of Health.

The products subject to recall do not bear the USDA mark of inspection.

Recall is due to possible spoilage.

FSIS action involves product from Perdue Premium Meat Co. Inc. dba Alexander & Hornung, as well as Panamerican Foods LLC.

Update includes an additional 2,151 pounds of product, making a total of 20,981 pounds of product subject to recall.

Product is subject to recall regardless of the product date.

The products subject to recall bear Canadian establishment number EST. 142 printed on the can.

The products may be contaminated with extraneous materials — specifically, clear, flexible plastic.

The links may be contaminated with extraneous materials — specifically, very thin strands of black plastic fibers.

The product labeled as chili topping may actually contain beef taco filling, which contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the product label.
