OSI North America, as part of OSI Group LLC, has released its first North America Sustainability Report for 2013/2014. The report is available online at www.osigroup.com/sustainability.html and includes information about the company’s achievements and goals in the areas of social, environmental and economic (supply chain) responsibility.
Some highlights from the report include:
- Receiving American Meat Institute (AMI) Environmental Recognition Awards in three facilities and AMI Safety Recognition Awards in four facilities in 2012
- Enhanced commitment to promoting animal welfare by sponsorship and participation in programs with four industry groups (PAACO, TQA®, AMIF and PDPW)
- Recording higher than- industry average animal welfare scores of OSI’s beef raw material vendors since 2010
- Surpassing the goal of increased diversity spending for non-direct material purchases in 2012, with commitment to continue the trend

Implementing projects that:
- Reduced greenhouse gas emissions (CO2) by more than 8,300 metric tons through logistics consolidation and eco-lighting installations
- Reduced the emission of volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) and other particulates at levels far surpassing minimum requirements
- Reduced the amount of waste sent to landfills through recycling programs for plastics, cardboard, batteries and light bulbs
