The Canadian Food Inspection Agency announced that the USDA has relisted the XL Foods facility in Brooks, Alberta, which was at the center of a large-scale beef recall. Effective immediately, the plant will be able to ship products into the United States again. Its operations have been taken over by JBS USA since the recall.
Canada revoked the plant's permit to export beef to the U.S. on Sept. 13 at the request of the USDA after several of the company's beef products were recalled. A massive recall was also implemented in Canada after 16 people became ill.
The Canadian food inspection agency restored the plant's operating license on Oct. 23.
