AdvancePierre Foods has told its employees that its Orange City, Iowa, plant will close by the end of the year. The closing will eliminate an estimated 300 jobs, reports the Associated Press.

Mayor Les Douma says the plant has "a great economic impact on the entire region." The products produced in Orange City, including cooked chicken for the company's Fast Fixin' Brand, will be moved to existing plants in Oklahoma and Ohio.

A spokesperson for the Cincinnati-based company said they felt they could, "maximize production capacity plus streamline logistics.” The company is working with the city to find another manufacturer to move into the plant.
