WASHINGTON – The American Meat Institute (AMI) has partnered with the National Renderers Association (NRA) to host a web seminar on Nov. 13, at 2 p.m. EST to educate the meat industry on the final Feed Rule.

The new rule is scheduled to take effect on April 27, 2009.

The 90 minute program will include briefings on the rule and its impact on beef and cow slaughter and rendering. The goal is to inform the industry of its responsibility to comply with the new feed regulations that include the prohibition of materials such as brains and spinal cords from cattle 30 months of age or older. Additionally, there will also be an opportunity for participants to ask questions of the speakers from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), AMI and NRA.

The web seminar is also co-sponsored by the National Meat Association (NMA) and the American Association of Meat Processors (AAMP).

To register, go to the Events/Education section of http://www.meatami.com/. Registration is $35 for AMI, NRA, NMA and AAMP members and government personnel; $70 for non-members.
