Maple Leaf Farms is launching two new fully cooked sausage products for foodservice operators. The Duck Bratwurst and Smoked Duck Sausages have traditional texture and flavor with less fat and calories than comparable pork sausages.
“Operators will love the flavor and the convenience of these fully cooked sausages,” says Maple Leaf Farms Director of Duck Marketing Cindy Turk. “Plus, duck is a healthier option than traditional pork sausage.”
Sausage is a popular choice for any mealtime – including breakfast, brunch, snack time or dinner. Last year, Americans purchased 314 million pounds of breakfast sausage and over 1 billion pounds of sausage for dinner, according to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council.
Several industry chefs tested the sausages prior to launch. The testers loved the authentic flavor and texture of these sausages. To make them even more appealing, both sausages have 60 percent less fat and 40 percent fewer calories than their traditional pork counterparts (based on 100g servings from the USDA Nutrient Database).
Each sausage comes in 6-pound cases with eight four-link packages. The products come frozen for convenience. Duck sausages can be prepared like traditional sausages – grilled, sautéed or steamed.
To support the new launch, Maple Leaf Farms is offering restaurant operators a rebate of $10 per case, up to 5 cases through July 2020. For more information on the products and this special promotion, visit www.mapleleaffarms.com/foodservice.
