Fresh, all-natural and humanely-raised NAKED TRUTH premium chicken, produced by Georgia’s largest poultry company Wayne Farms LLC, is now available at all Atlanta-area Whole Foods Market locations.
The fully cooked, flash frozen chicken products offer unique attributes and flavors for health, convenience and a superior eating experience. Featured on-package benefits include: all natural (no artificial ingredients), no preservatives, no nitrates or nitrites; 100 percent vegetarian diet (no animal by products); no antibiotics ever, and three of the four products are gluten free. Retail prices for the new offerings range from $5.99 to $6.99 and individual products include: sous vide-prepared Flame Grilled Chicken Breasts; Grilled Chicken Breast Chunks; Oven Roasted Chicken Wings and Waffle Flavored Chicken Bites.
NAKED TRUTH products are produced from chickens raised on Wayne Farms’ Global Animal Partnership (GAP) Step 2 certified farms. These farms feature more space for the chickens and an enriched indoor environment including natural lighting, all vegetarian feed and housing enrichments like perches to allow the chickens to perform natural behaviors.
GAP standards are independently verified by third-party audit on an annual basis. GAP Step 2 designation is supported by the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (ASPCA) ‘Shop With Your Heart’ program. The Shop With Your Heart program is a campaign designed to make it easier for consumers to find responsibly sourced products in a crowded meat space. As package claims become more numerous and confusing, the GAP Step 2 label verifies animal welfare standards that set products apart from those brought-to-market using conventional care standards. Wayne Farms’ commitment to enhanced animal welfare practices and humane treatment standards also prompted the company upgrade its production process to use state-of-the-art, controlled atmosphere stunning (CAS) technology to render chickens unconscious prior to processing.
“The ASPCA applauds NAKED TRUTH Premium Chicken and Whole Foods Market for increasing the access and awareness of welfare-certified options,” said Nancy Roulston, Director of Corporate Policy, ASPCA Farm Animal Welfare Program. “We would like to see welfare-certified products offered in every protein category in every retailer nationwide so that all Americans can shop in line with their values.”
