FoodMaven announced its acquisition of Anderson Boneless Beef as part of an ambitious expansion plan for 2019. This acquisition allows FoodMaven to add meat processing capabilities, while greatly expanding its protein offerings.
“This is our first acquisition, and a big milestone for FoodMaven,” said Patrick Bultema, FoodMaven Founder and CEO. “Not only will we grow our company size, but we’ll be able to process oversupplied proteins which is key for our mission of ensuring all food gets used with good purpose.”
Anderson distributes custom, fresh beef products in Colorado serving over 400 customers that span the front range and mountain communities in the food service, hospitality and grocery industries. The company was founded in 1976 and is located in Denver.
Anderson’s business aligns perfectly with FoodMaven’s model to distribute high-quality, natural food to restaurants and institutions, creating a true farm to table system. FoodMaven will gain more than 400 new customers, as well as being able to offer customized cuts of meat. More importantly, FoodMaven can capture and process otherwise lost meat and redistribute it as part of their better stewardship of food.
“Joining FoodMaven gives Anderson Boneless Beef the opportunity to be part of something bigger,” said Charlie Tan, founder and CEO of Anderson Boneless Beef. “FoodMaven’s mission is so important, and we’re all excited to be part of it.” Tan will continue on as a consultant for three months to help steer the transition and will remain as an advisor thereafter.
The addition of Anderson’s employees will increase FoodMaven’s company size by adding 35 employees to their workforce. FoodMaven will onboard Anderson employees immediately and expects minimal disruption to Anderson’s business during the transition.
This acquisition, in addition to FoodMaven’s recent warehouse facility upgrade in Denver, will take the company to a total of 62,250 square feet of facility space.
