The Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO) has recognized Certified Angus Beef LLC with a Gold Award for offering a healthy worksite among small businesses having fewer than 300 employees. The company was one of 73 Ohio employers to receive the award Jan. 25 at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center, Columbus, as part of the Health Action Council 2018 Columbus Symposium. The award recognizes Ohio employers for demonstrating commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive, worksite health promotions and wellness programs.
“Wellness programs are effective tools to engage employees in a more productive culture,” said David Cowden, chair of HBCO. “These programs most importantly help employees become healthier and happier, but also help drive down healthcare costs while driving up the bottom line.”
Worksites, large and small, public and private, for profit and nonprofit, are eligible to apply for the award. Applicants are evaluated on the extent their wellness programs facilitate and encourage employee health, enhance productivity and ensure a healthy work environment. Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are selected. The award is part of HBCO’s role in leading Ohio’s Plan to Prevent and Reduce Chronic Disease: 2014-2018.
