Provisur, Inc., a world leading manufacturer of high-volume food processing technology hosted a “Thanks a Ton” event Wednesday, November 15, to celebrate delivery to Quality Food Processors, Inc. of the 200th CashinEdge slicer to be manufactured and placed into production.
According to Scott Scriven, Provisur’s Vice President – Slicing, “Since it’s introduction in 2012, the CashinEdge has proven to be the durable and efficient workhorse of bacon processing facilities throughout the world. Now, with 200 CashinEdge slicers in operation, often for two, eight-hour shifts per day, we can roughly calculate that Provisur and our CashinEdge machines are helping to feed our hungry planet by assisting the production of nearly 400,000 tons of safe and nutritious protein annually.”
The CashinEdge HS Retail slicer, that will be delivered to Quality Food Processors in Denison, Iowa, following the Wednesday “Thanks a Ton” event, is specifically designed for high-speed bacon slicing applications and is capable of producing 60 one-pound drafts of bacon per minute.
To celebrate the 200-unit milestone of CashinEdge technology, as well as the 50-year success of the Cashin brand, Scriven announced that Provisur will make a commemorative donation to the Greater Chicago Food Depository (GCFD). “We respect and admire the important work of the CGFD and believe this donation to be a great way to say “Thanks a Ton,” both to our latest customer, Quality Food Processors, and to the other 199 owners who have placed their confidence in our market-leading CashinEdge technology, “ said Scriven.
Eric Kohler, QFP’s Plant Engineer, revealed that the company will replace two nearly 20-year old models of Cashin slicers with the newest technology manufactured by the company. “We joke with Provisur that we have two of the first Cashin slicers made and now we will have the newest – the 200th model of this slicer that they’ve manufactured,” he says. But, Kohler acknowledges, “There’s a significant difference. Chris Burnham, our VP/General Manager and Travis Miller, our Plant Manager both had experience with the user-friendly controls of Cashin technology. We also know from our careful evaluation that this high-speed, bacon-specific model will more than double the output of our two older machines, and with significantly greater yields and flexibility.”
