Global Re-Fuel announces its “Hot Chicken” contest to award one Texas-based poultry farmer the chance to win a new warm-air biomass furnace – a $100,000 value. The first 200 growers who fill out the Grower Interest Form on Global Re-Fuel’s website are eligible. Global Re-Fuel will also award the first 30 U.S.-based growers who fill out the form a $7,000 discount off a new furnace.

Global Re-Fuel’s PLF-500 warm-air biomass furnace converts raw poultry litter into energy, providing heat to broiler houses while eliminating the need for propane. Its conversion of poultry litter to a pathogen-free organic fertilizer helps reduce the nutrient overload and runoff that can cause algae bloom dead zones in waterways. In addition, the furnace improves poultry health by reducing ammonia levels by 74 percent.

The elimination of propane also enhances a farmer’s bottom line. Farmers can save approximately $15,000 per year per broiler house – helping to augment very thin profit margins.

"We are eager to bring our new renewable energy technology to market,” said Rocky Irwin, a founding member of Global Re-Fuel and a Texas poultry grower for more than 10 years. “This is a win-win technology for farmers, their birds and the environment.”
