The Board of Agriculture and Conservation (BAC) issued a request for proposals to lease and operate, with option to purchase, the Mt. McKinley Meat and Sausage (MMM&S) plant. The deadline to submit proposals is at 4:00 p.m. on July 11, 2016.
MMM&S is the only U.S. Department of Agriculture-approved slaughter facility in Southcentral Alaska. Located in Palmer, the plant is currently an asset of the Agricultural Revolving Loan Fund.
The BAC is seeking to return the plant to private sector ownership contingent on assurances that it continues to operate as a slaughter and meat processing plant.
