Micreos, a major supplier of bacteriophages in the U.S. market, has appointed Bert de Vegt as Managing Director of Micreos Food Safety and a member of Micreos management team. Previously, de Vegt enjoyed a long international career at Purac/Corbion where he held leadership positions as Senior Vice President for Corbion's Meat & Culinary Business Unit. He played an instrumental role in the introduction of food safety and shelf life solutions for Listeria control.
"We feel very fortunate to bring Bert on board," said Micreos CEO, Mark Offerhaus. "His background and experience make him a perfect candidate for the position, we're very confident he will accelerate the further development and commercialization of Micreos' phage based-solutions for dangerous pathogens".
"Micreos has shown that phages have a rightful place in the arsenal for food protection," said de Vegt. "I'm excited by the potential of this technology and look forward to taking it to the next level as an industry standard".
De Vegt holds a Master's Degree in Food Science from Wageningen University in Wageningen, the Netherlands and an MBA from Nyenrode Business University.
