Days after announcing it would join a ban on finely textured beef, Hy-Vee said Wednesday it will continue to offer the products.

A coalition of governors is joining forces to support the U.S. beef industry and set the record straight about lean finely textured beef, releasing a statement and conducting a beef plant tour.

The Kroger Co., the country's largest retailer, announced that it will no longer purchase ground beef containing lean finely textured beef.

Safeway says in a statement “considerable consumer concern” led to its decision even though the chain believes its beef with the controversial filler in it is safe.
