Net income in the third quarter dropped to $73 million from $188 million in 2011, though operating income rose from $8.247 billion in 2011 to $8.308 billion this year.
"The United States (will) resume imports from Japan from Aug. 17 onwards, acknowledging that (Japan) is clean from foot-and-mouth disease," the ministry said.
Mexico's economy ministry has accused the United States of engaging in price dumping with its chicken exports but added that it would not take action for the time being.
The groups argued that portions of the rule will slow productivity, hurt jobs and have a negative impact on agriculture, manufacturers, retail supply chains and distribution operations.
