Scientific experts discussed the latest spread of highly pathogenic avian influenza and African swine fever globally, as well as ways the feed and poultry industries can plug gaps now in their biosecurity programs.

The Animal Agriculture Sustainability Summit is sponsored by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, along with the American Feed Industry Association and the North American Meat Institute.

The program covered what the animal food industry can expect from U.S. federal regulators in 2023 and findings from a recent African swine fever (ASF) feed mill decontamination study.

In addition, the AFIA welcomed recent University of Florida agricultural communications graduate Marisa Crowhurst as its spring communications intern.

The program is available to any location within an approximate three-hour drive from Atlanta.

This year’s Equipment Manufacturers Conference focused on building an industry perspective on sustainability.

The program will take place on Jan. 25, 2023, in conjunction with the 2023 International Production & Processing Expo.
