President Obama last week announced his plan for comprehensive immigration reform. The administration’s plan includes four parts: increased border security, accountability for businesses who hire undocumented workers, reforming the visa system to expand the legal immigration system and a plan for bringing those in the U.S. illegally into the legal system.
The food industry has been made out to be the bad guy as of late, with manufacturers and restaurants accused of giving Americans sugary, fatty, salty and generally unhealthy food.
The year 2009 is behind us, probably to the great relief of many in the industry. Economic struggles, food safety concerns and supply-and- demand imbalances caused many companies to restructure their operations or lower their expectations.
