Omaha Steaks has been recognized as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite by the American Heart Association for helping employees eat better and move more.

Employers recognized at the Platinum-Level must meet the following criteria:

  • Offer employees physical activity options in the workplace.
  • Increase healthy eating options at the worksite.
  • Promote a wellness culture in the workplace.
  • Implement at least nine criteria outlined by the American Heart Association in the areas of physical activity, nutrition and culture.
  • Demonstrate measurable outcomes related to workplace wellness.

"We are honored and excited to be recognized by the American Heart Association as a Platinum-Level Fit-Friendly Worksite," said Jim Bohan, vice president of human resources. "Employee Wellness is important to us at Omaha Steaks and we are committed to providing the best workplace environment possible. This will benefit our employees' health and produce even more positive results for our worksite overall."

Over the past year Omaha Steaks has added additional employee programs including the Get Moving! Campaign, Omaha Steaks Olympics, Mobile Mammography and company team participation in local events.

"We believe a healthy employee is a happy employee," said Amy Lorenzen, wellness coordinator at Omaha Steaks. "We've worked really hard over the years to encourage employees to engage in a healthy lifestyle through our wellness programs and challenges. We feel that our employee success stories and winning this award are a tremendous accomplishment, because it tells us we are moving in the right direction."

The Fit-Friendly Worksites program is a catalyst for positive change in the American workforce by helping worksites make their employees' health and wellness a priority.
