Cher-Make Sausage Co. announced its expanding approach to growing private label opportunities by naming James Birt as director of private label & co-pack sales.
The position will be based in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area, which gives Birt a strategic location to support the company and the national sales and marketing effort. His experience with national and regional foodservice restaurant chains and his central location to call on national retail groups are important steps in helping Cher-Make grow their total business, the company said.
“Private label and co-pack customers have long been part of our success. Having an experienced professional like Jim on board will be a real benefit to our current and prospective customers because of his knowledge and track record of success,” commented Tom Chermak, president of Cher-Make. “We conducted an extensive search and feel we have the right person with the right set of skills to grow with an expanding private label market.”
Birt brings sales and marketing experience to Cher-Make Sausage Company in consumer, foodservice and industrial product companies for over 30 years. His career has spanned a number of senior sales and marketing management positions within Ocean Spray Cranberries Inc., Hudson Foods (Tyson), Coastlog Industries Limited, Townsend Inc. and HealthPro Brands Inc. Birt is a principle owner of Berwyn Levitt Marketing LLC, a consulting, marketing and sales support company that has focused on providing services to food and beverage companies nationally.
