Skidmore Sales and Distributing Co. Inc. announced the purchase of Processor’s Choice Inc., based in Irondale, Ala. Both companies are leading distributors of food ingredients to the food processing, flavors, and health and nutritional industries. Skidmore, which also owns Essex Grain Products; now serves customers from  16 distribution centers located throughout the Midwest and along the entire Atlantic Coast. Processor’s Choice serves customers in 10 states across the Southeast from its distribution center in suburban Birmingham, Ala.

Commenting on the purchase, Doug Skidmore, CEO of Skidmore Sales and Distributing, stated: “Processor’s Choice has earned a great service reputation in the industry, and its sales geography in the Southeast complements our territory very nicely. With the addition of Processor’s Choice, Skidmore can now offer next and same day service to customers in 32 states from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico, and from the East Coast to the Missouri River Valley.”   

Don Allinder, the previous owner of Processor’s Choice, stated: “We are pleased Skidmore is offering positions to all our employees. I am confident Skidmore will continue our tradition of offering excellent service to all our customers.”

Skidmore will manage Processor’s Choice as a separate operating unit under the Processor’s Choice name and begin to offer additional products to its new customers across the Southeast. Doug Skidmore added, “We’re committed to making our purchase of Processor’s Choice as seamless as possible to their customers.”
