Interview: Richard Raymond, former undersecretary for food safety, USDA
On September 16 and 17, the North American Meat Processors Association hosted the “Prevention of E. coli O157:H7” conference for beef further processors, sponsored by every major meat association and trade publication. Dr. Richard Raymond, (now former) undersecretary for food safety in the USDA gave the keynote address on September 17. It was his last public speech in front of the industry before his retirement at the end of September. Sam Gazdziak, Editor In Chief of the Independent Provisioner magazine had the chance to speak with Raymond about his views on E. coli and his time at the USDA.
