WASHINGTON – The Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) Humane Interactive Knowledge Exchange (HIKE) has issued HIKE Scenario 03-08: Egregious Electrical Stunning.
The scenario offers advice and instruction on how inspectors should handle noncompliance of regulation 9 CFR 313.30 (a) (4), which states that a stunned animal “shall remain in a state of surgical anesthesia through shackling, sticking and bleeding.”
