Industrial gases supplier Messer is offering the PUCC (Performance Under Cryogenic Conditions) tool to help customers identify areas of inefficiency in their cooling and freezing systems, says Dan Smiley, director of food and beverage. The PUCC can detect refrigeration system issues such as uneven cooling distribution and innaccurate temperature readings, he says.

SEE is offering trays made using a cellular acetate that can be used in place of polystyrene trays for meat and poultry packaging applications, says Shawn Harris, protein platform leader for the Americas region. The trays enable three-month industrial compostability and six-month backyard compostability, Harris says.

Mettler Toledo's latest version of is X2 series of X-ray inspection units offers stainless steel construction for ease of washdown along with superior image quality, says salesman Mike Stewart. The unit is designed to offer user flexibility and adaptability for a wide range of processing line applications, he says.

Corbion's new solutions to help processors craft a cleaner-label product include onion ferments, says Garrett McCoy, senior manager of research, development and applications. When added to a product such as hot dogs, powdered onion ferments offer antimicrobial properties as well as flavor enhancement, McCoy says.

Kaitlin Karschner and Michael Lapides say Ancera's new microbial detection tools are designed to identify and enumerate Clostridium perfringens and total viable bacteria. Ancera’s monitoring platform can address animal health and food safety for poultry producers for both live operations and processing.
