Case Farms, a local poultry farming and processing group, achieved a new safety milestone on Oct. 10 after their Morganton processing facility reached three million man hours without experiencing an Occupational Safety and Health Administration recordable lost-time accident.

"This is a monumental achievement and wouldn’t be possible without the complete commitment from every Morganton team member," said Tyler Parlier, regional safety manager of North Carolina Divisions. "The Morganton teams’ dedication to safety is unquestionable, and every team member should be proud of making this happen. We will continue to keep safety at the forefront of what we do as we push towards the next safety landmark." 

This is the second time the Morganton facility has reached a significant safety milestone this year. Over the past decade the Morganton Complex has reached the 1 million man hour mark on four separate occasions, the two million man hour mark earlier this year, and now the 3 million man hour mark.

An OHSA recordable lost-time accident occurs when an employee receives an injury where a doctor has determined that the person cannot come to work until fully recovered. Typically, it takes about five to six months for a facility to reach 1-million-man hour without a lost-time accident.

In addition to efforts made by employees, Case Farms implements a company-wide worker safety program comprised of core elements that are essential to achieving and maintaining a strong safety and health program.
