Monogram Foods has ceased operations at its production facility in Schulenburg, Texas. The unexpected loss of its only customer is forcing Monogram Foods to stop production at the Monogram Pet Treats facility. Monogram has been one of the larger employers in the Schulenburg area with a high quality, low turnover workforce of less than 100 team members. Monogram is offering current Pet Treats team members employment and relocation assistance at any of Monogram’s eight other plants.
The Monogram Pet Treats production plant is a FDA facility and could be converted into a USDA facility quickly and economically. The greatest assets of that facility have been its 88 flow-through smokehouse rack positions, new multi-million dollar wastewater facility, and the dedicated workforce. Monogram’s CEO Karl Schledwitz laments, “We made good products consistently and safely with our highly capable Schulenburg workforce. If Monogram cannot stay, we would love to see someone take advantage of this great production opportunity by acquiring it.” The Monogram Pet Treats operations account for about 1% of annual business for Monogram Foods.
