Holy Cross Locker, a Dubuque County business that had operated since 1946, closed its doors for good at the end of 2018. Owner Bob Hayes, who had worked at the family business since 1974, retired from the business that his parents started more than 70 years ago.
"I've got good health yet, and I've had enough," Hayes told KCRG News. "I've said this numerous times: I like Friday night more than I do Monday morning, but I never hated coming up here."
Hayes said that business was good, but that he knew it was time to retire. He said that he planned to do volunteer work and spend time with his grandchildren.
Holy Cross Locker’s last day in operation was on December 29.
