Thomas Routh, president and CEO of JH Routh Packing Co. in Sandusky, Ohio, died on Wednesday, October 3. He was 68 years old.

In addition to his duties in his family’s meat business, Routh was the Chairman of the Board of Firelands Regional Medical Center, and was on the Boards of A.C.T. (Answering the Call Together), the Boy Scouts Heart of Ohio Council and many other civic and charitable organizations. He was a former member of the Norwalk City Schools Board of Education.

The  J.H. Routh Packing Company traces its roots to 1919, when W.C. Routh began the Sandusky Packing Company. In 1942, under John H. Routh, the company changed its name to the J.H. Routh Packing Company, and was incorporated under the name in 1947. Since that time, John Routh, and his descendants have operated the business and provided its customers with “Daisyfield” Brand fresh and processed meat products.
