The Timken Company, a world leader in engineered bearings and power transmission products, has launched the Timken-brand line of Split Cylindrical Roller Bearing Housed Units designed to greatly reduce maintenance time and cost where bearings are mounted in hard-to-access locations. Now customers have even more options for meeting the toughest demands when they select from one of the widest portfolios of housed bearing solutions.
Eliminate Machinery Removal
Timken Split Cylindrical Roller Bearing Housed Units can save hours―even days―of time-consuming equipment teardown and reassembly. In some applications, bearings are trapped in high service cost locations, and a split bearing unit can significantly reduce plant disruptions and labor spending compared to housings with solid, non-split bearings. This is because the Timken split bearing unit solution features removeable support caps and housing halves that make it simple to visually inspect components or replace bearings in a fraction of the time.
“Customers can reduce fitting time as much as 90 percent by using our cleverly designed bearing units,” said Nick Dent, business unit manager, The Timken Company. “These units are completely split to the shaft, meaning you don’t have to remove couplings, gearboxes or other equipment to install bearings. It’s a maintenance problem-solver that’s already seen a strong response in the markets we serve.
“To solve unique challenges, you need a different approach, and these split bearing housed units are another example of the innovative thinking customers turn to Timken for time and again.”
Stronger Outside, Smarter Inside
All Timken Split Cylindrical Roller Bearing Housed Units feature a Timken Split Cylindrical Roller Bearing with machined brass cages and a single-piece cage clip designed for accurate alignment and fitting. These durable bearings offer high radial load and speed capability and are interchangeable with standard industry designs.
The complete line ranges in size from 1-7/16" to 24" (40mm to 600mm) to suit all types of industrial requirements. In addition, Timken offers five different housing configurations along with multiple sealing options so that customers can have confidence in their mounted solution―even in the dirtiest, most difficult environments.
A split bearing can add value to any operation just by avoiding the downtime associated with moving equipment to change out a standard bearing. Easier to install, maintain and replace, split bearings can cut labor costs, free up personnel for other more critical tasks and reduce the safety risk that comes with dismantling large machines.
Previously, split bearing units from Timken were branded Revolvo but will exclusively carry the Timken name moving forward. It was in 2014 that Timken acquired Revolvo Ltd., a specialty bearing company based in the U.K.
CAD On-Demand
Engineers will also appreciate how easy it is to add a split-block unit to their plans. Pros can access CAD models for all styles of Timken housed bearings simply by visiting Timken.com.
Timken offers ball bearing, Type E tapered roller bearing, solid block spherical roller bearing and many other housed unit options in addition to split-block cylindrical designs. It’s all part of the company’s constant focus on bringing customers the friction management solutions that keep operations moving smoothly every day.
