Rockford Systems, LLC. announced it will be commemorating National Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) on October 4-5, 2018, by inviting members of the Rockford community -- including students, educators, business people, media and public officials -- to an Open House at its facilities in a collective effort to educate the public about advances in manufacturing career opportunities and to improve perceptions of manufacturing. Attendees to the free event will take part in an interactive demonstration of 15 safeguarded metal-working machines operating under power, spend time in the company's training center for a safety presentation, network with machine safeguarding specialists, and participate in the #selfieforsafety social media campaign. All attendees will also receive refreshments and a free gift bag. In all, there will be five Open House MFG Day sessions on October 4 and 5 to attend, starting at 8:00 am and running until 4:00 pm. However, the 8:00 am, 10:00 am, 12:00 pm sessions are reserved exclusively for students, while the 2:00 pm session is for members of the Rockford business community.
MFG Day is an annual national event, executed at the local level that supports hundreds of manufacturers across the nation by hosting students, teachers, parents, job seekers, and other local community members at open houses designed to showcase modern manufacturing technology and careers. The goal of MFG Day is to addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is - and what it isn't.
"Last year's Open House was a huge success for the Rockford community and we expect this year's event to be even bigger and more exciting," said Carrie Halle, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development for Rockford Systems. "We are honored to support MFG Day's mission of reminding the public that manufacturing is our economy's bedrock and the driving force behind its growth."
Attendees to Rockford Systems MFG Day Open House are required to wear closed-toe shoes and tie hair long hair back to ensure safety. Students under age 18 must be accompanied by an adult or participate with a school group.
