As Hurricane Florence nears the Carolinas, the region’s agriculture industry continues to take emergency measures. Bloomberg reports that Butterball’s processing plants, hatcheries and feed mills began hurricane preparations last week, and other companies are doing the same. Should harm come to the turkey flocks in the area, an ample supply of frozen turkey should mean that Thanksgiving inventories shouldn’t be affected.

“National Turkey Federation members have extensive plans in place to address scenarios of this nature, and they are taking the appropriate steps now to best protect the safety of their employees and flocks,” Beth Breeding, NTF spokesperson.
