A former Bubba Burger processing plant in Hastings, Neb. has been given a new life, thanks to Flanders Provisions Co. The long-time Georgia-based processor of frozen burger patties has relocated its operations to the facility, beginning production with 32 employees.
The Hastings Tribune reports that the Hastings Utility Board members voted to give $125,000 from its economic development funds to the processor. The proposal will move to the Hastings City Council. By the terms of the agreement, Flanders would not have to repay the $125,000 loan if it has 50 full-time employees by January 1, 2019 and maintains at least that number of employees for 24 months. The company has committed to creating at least 50 new jobs at the plant while spending $3.75 million on plant upgrades.
