Slagel Family Farms, a central Illinois producer that supplies organic meats to many Chicago restaurants, has announced a new venture: dog food. The company’s new raw dog food line is called “Farm 2 Bowl” and was inspired from numerous requests from chef customers, reports the Chicago Tribune.
“When restaurant owners told us they were buying extra meat for their pets, we realized there was a desire and an interest in this type of product,” LouisJohn Slagel said.
The turkey and vegetable food uses parts of the bird, such as wings, legs, backs and organs, that are less in demand from Slagel Family Farms’ restaurant partners.
