The 2016 edition of the North American Meat Institute’s (NAMI) Meat & Poultry Facts, the livestock and meat industry's leading statistical book, is now available. The book is a joint publication of NAMI and Sterling Marketing, Inc.
The 45th edition of this popular livestock, meat and poultry industry resource contains the latest statistics on production, consumption, prices, imports, exports, employment, wages and much more. The information is presented in 62 charts, many of which feature historical trend data.
“Meat & Poultry Facts is the leading, most comprehensive resource for meat and livestock industry information,” said NAMI President and CEO Barry Carpenter. “The detailed data, presented in creative, easily digestible formats, effectively communicates the scope and significance of the U.S. meat and poultry industry domestically and in international markets. The publication is a must-have guide for anyone who seeks to better understand key industry trends.”
In the forward to the publication, Sterling Marketing President John Nalivka underscored the robust plant expansion that occurred in the pork industry in 2016, which has resulted in two consecutive years of record harvest capacity and production. Nalivka also noted beef and pork packer margins improved significantly compared to 2015.
Meanwhile, Nalivka emphasized the strong performance of red meat exports in 2016, as U.S. beef exports increased 13 percent and pork exports rose five percent compared to 2015. Nalivka predicted U.S. red meat exports will continue to grow, particularly following the recent opening of the Chinese market to U.S. beef products and solid demand in Asia for U.S. pork.
For the first time, the report is being provided electronically to all Meat Institute members. Non-members can purchase a digital version of the book for $40.
