Spartan Chemical Company, Inc., a recognized leader in the formulation and manufacture of sustainable cleaning and sanitation solutions for the industrial and institutional market, announced that PAA Sanitizer FP, Eggs-So-Clean pH Booster, and SparCHLOR are now certified for use in organic food processing facilities under the OMRI listing.
The organic food segment continues to see growth in the food processing and production industry. Driven by increased consumer demand, sales of organic food and non-food products shattered records and gained new market share in 2016 ringing up a staggering $47 billion in U.S. sales, according to the Organic Trade Association’s (OTA’s) 2017 Organic Industry Survey.
OMRI (Organic Materials Review Institute) supports organic integrity by developing clear information and guidance about materials, so that producers and processors know which products are appropriate for organic operations. OMRI is a nonprofit organization that provides an independent review of products, such as sanitation chemicals that are intended for use in certified organic production and processing. When companies apply, OMRI reviews their products against the organic standards. Acceptable products are OMRI Listed and appear on the OMRI Products List.
“Food processing sanitation chemicals have been an important part of our distributors’ differentiation for over two decades,” said John Swigart, President, Spartan Chemical Company. “With the increased focus on organic foods, we realize that third party certifications, like OMRI, are important for our combined success.”
