Quality Pork Processors, an Austin, Minn. hog processor that slaughters about 20,000 animals daily for Hormel Foods, is being sued by the animal rights group Compassion Over Killing. The group released an undercover video showing alleged inhumane practices last year, reports City Pages.

The Quality Pork Processors was subsequently inspected by USDA officials. Compassion Over Killing also called the Austin Police Department about opening an animal cruelty case. The group has now filed a lawsuit against the business. According to the 19-page filing, it's asking the court to force local officials to enforce Minnesota animal cruelty statutes. A hearing has yet to be scheduled.

Quality Pork Processors did not comment on the filing. According to the article, the facility is one of the pilot plants that is allowed to run at increased speeds without greater regulatory oversight.
