Dakota Pack, a division of Farmers Union Industries (FUI), announces plans for expansion to double capacity of their current cull hog processing facility to accommodate the increasing U.S pork production in the Iowa region. Current plans will expand the already existing facility where the company operates in Estherville, Iowa.
This expansion provides capacity for increased processing as well as space for new state-of-the-art equipment to provide greater efficiencies and an enhanced work environment for employees. Expanding operations will allow the company to continue to reinvest for future growth as the leading processor for out of spec hogs. Construction on the facility is likely to start in the beginning of 2017 with the new footprint being fully operational by some time next summer. Dakota Pack will remain fully functional while any construction would be carried out on the facility.
"Farmers Union Industries is tremendously excited about expanding our operations to not only fit our strategic needs, but also give us an opportunity to provide an enhanced work environment for all of our employees," said Duane Anderson, President and Chief Executive Officer. "Plans for this expansion is a testament to the growth and success of Dakota Pack since FUI acquired the company in July of 2015, and marks the beginning of a new chapter in our long history of serving farmers and supporting the ag industry in the heart of America."
