Indiana poultry processor Miller Poultry has donated more than 7,000 pounds of frozen chicken meat to Church Community Services in Elkhart. It also sent a donation of whole meat and chicken sausage to two other area food banks for a total of 16,000 pounds of chicken meat.
“We’re blessed and fortunate to be in a position to give back whenever possible,” said Sean Smith, director of special projects for Miller Poultry. “Making donations to places like Church Community Services helps them fortify their menu.”
Smith said Miller Poultry has been making donations of this size for more than 10 years and that donations also were made to Granger Community Church and Faith Mission of Elkhart Inc. Over the past year, the company has donated more than 160,000 pounds of chicken to local pantries, including 10,000 pounds recently delivered to the Northern Indiana Food Pantry in South Bend.
