New York chicken house fire kills 50,000 birds

A fire that broke out at Giroux’s Poultry Farm in Chazy, N.Y., has killed about 50,000 chickens. The fire broke out on Thursday morning in the farm’s two-story barn, reports the Associated Press .

The barn itself was destroyed, though the surrounding buildings were not damaged. Fire crews from nearby Quebeck and Vermont assisted in battling the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
