Simmons Foods to cut 223 jobs due to rising corn prices

June 29, 2011
Simmons Foods Inc. will cut 223 jobs at its plant in Siloam Springs, Ark., and move some production to nearby Decatur in an effort to control costs caused by rising corn prices. The Siloam Springs plant will continue its pet food operations, reports The City Wire (Fort Smith, Ark.).

Simmons officials said that they will work to move displaced workers into open positions within the company.
