National Beef Packing Co. LLC said it intends to acquire the remaining 25 percent interest of Kansas City Steak Co. LLC that it does not already own.

National Beef Packing Co. has announced that it will lay off 283 workers in its plant in Moultrie, Ga., as well as 150 workers at a facility in Hummel’s Wharf, Pa.

Federal regulators have fined National Beef Packing Co. $32,500 as part of a consent agreement stemming from its practices with livestock sellers.

Leucadia will acquire approximately 79% of the outstanding ownership interests in National Beef.

Workers at the National Beef Packing Co. meatpacking plant in Dodge City, Kan., have voted in favor of union representation.
