It is well-known within the meat processing industry, with very few exceptions, that there is no such thing as a mandatory recall. 

U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., recently reintroduced the Expanded Food Safety Investigation Act. 

The word “recall’ in reference to meat or poultry products might lead to the presumption that the incident involved presence of a foodborne pathogen. 

Update includes an additional 2,151 pounds of product, making a total of 20,981 pounds of product subject to recall.

On Tuesday, April 25, 2023, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) issued a proposal that, if adopted, would declare Salmonella an adulterant in breaded stuffed raw chicken products, even at very low levels of contamination.

The product labeled as chili topping may actually contain beef taco filling, which contains soy, a known allergen, that is not declared on the product label.

FSIS updates the document in response to comments on the previous guideline. 

The products subject to recall do not bear an establishment number nor a USDA mark of inspection.
